As a member supported, nonprofit organization, the SLCT is made up of volunteers who are dedicated to preserving
the open space and natural resources of Seekonk. Our goal is to protect these natural areas so that Seekonk's residents
and future generations can enjoy them. As Seekonk faces increasing development pressure and urban sprawl, it is more
important than ever to preserve the Town's quality of life, rural character, and scenic appeal.
In the early evenings Canada Geese fly over Luther's Corners in South Seekonk. They honk at each other, establishing
their flight formation maybe or remarking on the condition of the landscape below. There might be a great grandparent goose
in the flock who remembers the squash and cornfields which covered the land where Seekonk Commons now stands.
SLCT
wants to help preserve Seekonk and protect the few remaining green spaces in Town. It is our hope that we can work with landowners
to find creative ways to preserve green spaces while benefiting property owners, the Town of Seekonk, and generations to come.
Working together we can save the fields and forests, the remaining vernal pools and the haunts of the Canada Geese, so
that our grandchildren will hear the goose calls of evening.
