Scout Troops 1 and 9 of Seekonk were honored with the Mary C. Wilson Community Conservation Award by the Seekonk Land Conservation Trust (SLCT) at its Annual Meeting on April 29, 2026. This annual award recognizes individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions to the protection of natural resources and open space in Seekonk.
The Scouts were recognized for their ongoing support of SLCT initiatives, including trail maintenance, brush clearing, trash removal, and the recent construction of a new kiosk at the Martin Wildlife Refuge as part of an Eagle Scout project. Troop Secretary and Training Coordinator, Michelle Danzer-Gries, was recognized for her dedication, hard work, and commitment to both the Scouts and the Land Trust. Scout leaders Chris Jeffrey and Amy Doherty, along with several scouts, were also recognized at the meeting.
SLCT President Tom Webb presented the award before an audience of approximately 75 attendees gathered at the Seekonk Public Library for the organization’s 2026 Annual Meeting.
